Dr. Abdulhadi grew up in Iraq and has lived in Thailand and Switzerland. He speaks the following languages fluently - English, German, Arabic and Kurdish.

He is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

 Anshu Aery, MD

Medical School: Kasturba Medical College, India

Residency: UAB Montgomery, Montgomery, AL

Dr. Aery joined Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC in August of 2022.

Mudassir Akram, MD

Medical School: King Edward Medical College, Pakistan

Residency: Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, OH

Dr. Akram hails from Pakistan but grew up in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Having completed his training in Ohio in 2008, Dr. Akram has worked in Colorado and South Carolina as a hospitalist before joining Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC in 2015.

He is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Akram is a soccer fanatic who also enjoys history, traveling the world and spending time with his wife and two kids.

EKaterina (Kat) Alchits, MD

Medical School: Saba University School of Medicine in Netherlands Antilles

Residency: Internal Medicine at Metrohealth Medical Center (Case Western Medical School) in Cleveland, Ohio

Dr. Alchits was born in Russia and grew up in Canada. Before moving to Oregon, she was practicing in Butte, Montana as a hospitalist. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Alchits started working as a nocturnist with Southern Oregon Hospitalist, PC in January 2020.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children. Their favorite outdoor activities include hiking and camping.

 Abdalrahman Almeligy, MD

Medical School: Ain Shams, Egypt

Residency: Monmouth Medical Center, Long Beach, NJ

Dr. Almeligy joined Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC in August 2022.

Tino Bauer, MD

Medical School: Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany

Residency: Internal Medicine at St John’s Hospital, Tulsa, OK

Dr. Bauer was born in Stralsund, Germany, where his brother and mother still lives. He followed his father’s footsteps and studied medicine at Humboldt University in Berlin.  While in medical school, he spent some time in Cape Town, South Africa, windsurfing and doing some rotations at a local hospital.  Here, he met his future wife, Carla, a native South African.  Dr. Bauer completed his internship in Germany before doing his residency at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 

He is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Bauer and his wife moved to Oregon in 2006. Dr. Bauer’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, snowboarding, windsurfing and making excellent beer!  He and his wife love life on their mini-ranch in the beautiful Rogue Valley, with their animals

Erin Brender, MD

Medical School: University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Albuquerque, NM

Residency: Internal Medicine at University of Florida in Gainesville, FL

Fellowship: Medical Editing and Journal Publication for JAMA (American Medical Association)

Dr. Brender is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine and was elected as a fellow of the American College of Physicians by her peers.  Dr. Brender is affiliated with Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. She has practiced with Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC since 2007.  She is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine, the American College of Physicians and Royal College of Physicians. Dr. Brender is the informatics physician leader for EPIC and is instrumental to the team in ensuring a well-functioning electronic health record system at RRMC.

Dr. Brender enjoys shoe shopping and a good hamburger cooked medium-well.  But mostly she enjoys long walks and hiking with her husband, two young boys, and yellow lab, watching her boys play sports, playing the ukulele with them, and discussing the clotting cascade with her husband who is a physician as well.

Andrei Chirpac, MD

Medical School: Ross University, Dominica

Residency: Internal Medicine at St Joseph Mercy-Oakland Program

Dr. Chirpac is Board Certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Chirpac grew up in Romania and Ontario, Canada, where his family still resides. After completing his undergraduate degree in Canada, he attended medical school at Ross University in Dominica.

He has been Southern Oregon Hospitalist, PC since 2016.

He is married and his wife is currently pursuing her education to be a nurse practitioner. In his spare time, Dr. Chirpac is an avid salsa dancer.

Michele DeKorte, MD

Medical School: Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, CA

Residency: Internal Medicine at Scripps Green Clinic in La Jolla, CA

Dr. DeKorte grew up in Southern Oregon.

After completing her Internal Medicine residency, she joined the faculty at University of California, San Diego Hospital Medicine.

Dr. DeKorte is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

She joined Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC in 2017.

Outside of the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, travel, photography, hiking, and camping.

 Denise Driscoll, MD

Residency: University of Florida College of Medicine

Dr. Driscoll is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

She joined Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC in November 2021.

Apoorva Gupta, MD

Medical School: Kasturba Medical College, India

Residency: Internal Medicine at Icahn Mt Sinai School of Medicine- Queens Hospital Center

Dr. Gupta is grew up in India and completed her medical training there.

She has a Master of Science in Clinical Research Methods from Tulane University in New Orleans.

Dr. Gupta is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

She joined Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC in September 2019.

Mohamad Hamad, MD

Medical School: University of Jordan, Amman-Jordan

Residency: Monmouth Medical Center, Long Beach, NJ

Dr. Hamad joined Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC in August of 2022.

Tawfik Hamati, MD

Medical School: University of Jordan, Jordan

Residency: Internal Medicine at St Mary Mercy Hospital, Livonia, MI

Dr. Hamati grew up in the Middle East and attended medical school in Jordan.

Prior to his residency in Internal Medicine, he has done research in diabetes and endocrinology.

He is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Hamati has been with Southern Oregon Hospitalist, PC since 2017.

Elizabeth Hirni, DO

Medical School: Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine

Residency: Internal Medicine at Union Hospital, Union, NJ

Dr. Hirni grew up in San Francisco, CA.

She is affiliated with Rogue Regional Medical Center.  She has practiced with Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC since 2003. Dr. Hirni is a member of the America College of Physicians, American Osteopathic Association and is Board Certified through the American Board of Osteopathic Internal Medicine. .

Dr. Hirni enjoys running, traveling, hiking with her family, reading, cooking, snorkeling, and working on foreign languages. She is fluent in French but still working on her Spanish.  

Ahsan Jaffar, MD

Medical School: Bolan Medical College, Pakistan

Residency: Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH

Dr. Jaffar grew up in Pakistan.

He has been with Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC since 2008. Dr. Jaffar is a member of the American College of Physicians and Society of Hospital Medicine.

He is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

When he is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, running and cycling.

Minal Jaju, MD

Medical School: Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, India

Residency: Internal Medicine at St Francis Medical Center, Trenton, NJ

Dr. Jaju grew up in India.

She has been with Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC since 2013. She is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Tim Johnston, MD

Medical School: University of Colorado School of Medicine

Residency: Family Medicine at St Mary’s Family Residency, Grand Junction, CO

Dr. Johnston was born and raised in Oregon. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado Medical School. Additional, he has a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He worked as an aerospace engineer for Lockheed Martin before returning to medical school. Dr. Johnston went into private practice in Ashland for 3 years prior to dedicating himself to hospital based medicine in 2011.

He is Board Certified with the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Johnston is affiliated with Rogue Regional Medical Center. He has practiced with Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC since 2011. He served as the Chair of Medicine at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center from 2015-2018. He continues to serve the medical staff as Chief of Staff Elect with planned transition to Chief of Staff in 2020.

Dr. Johnston is married with two children and enjoys a variety of outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, rafting, kite boarding, mountain and road biking.

Arun Thekkekarott Kuruvila, MD

Medical School : Calicut Medical College, India

Residency: Internal Medicine at Louis. A Weiss Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL

Dr. Kuruvilla grew up in Kerala, India.

He is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

He has been practicing with Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC since 2015.

In his spare time, he loves to paint and is an accomplished artist with numerous art exhibitions in his name. He also enjoys photography. Dr Kuruvilla’s paintings and photographs are displayed on this website.

Dr. Kuruvilla enjoys traveling with his wife and two daughters in his time off from work.

Jose Mondesi, MD

Medical School: Universidad Iberoamericana, Dominican Republic

Residency: Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, OH

Dr. Mondesi grew up in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

He is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

He has been with Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC since 2008 and practices as a hospitalist at Rogue Regional Medical Center.

His enjoys running, coffee and reading. On his days off, he normally hangs out at the gym or at a local coffee shop. He has participated in numerous long distance races.

Bernard Nicholas, MD

Medical School: Ross University, Dominica

Residency: Internal Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey-Trinitas, NJ

Dr. Nicholas was born in Sri Lanka, but grew up in Toronto, Canada. He attended the University of Toronto where he completed a double major in Cell and Molecular Biology and Human Biology.

Dr. Nicholas is Board Certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine.

He joined Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC in 2019.

In his spare time he enjoys playing with his two dogs, Bruce and Sophia, spending time with friends, fantasy football, poker, eating (not cooking), and game nights.

Daniel (Rudi) Oreskovich, MD

Medical School: Semmelweis University Hungary

Residency: Geisinger Health System, Danville, PA

Dr. Oreskovich is a native of Hungary.

He is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

He has been practicing with Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC since 2013. Dr. Oreskovich holds a leadership role at the current Chief of Medicine at Rogue Regional Medical Center.

He lives in Grants Pass with his wife and three children. He enjoys long distance running, Cross-Fit and playing basketball in his free time.

Temur Said, MD

Medical school: Volgograd State Medical University, Russia

Residency: Internal Medicine at SSM St. Mary's Hospital St. Louis, Missouri

Dr. Said was born and grew up in Tajikistan, before relocating to Russia with his family. After graduating from medical school, he trained as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon and also completed a PhD in clinical research and medicine in Russia. He eventually decided to move to the United States, and changed his area of interest and training to internal medicine. He is especially passionate about educating his patients to enable them to better manage their health issues. 

When not at work, Dr. Said enjoys outdoor activities, photography and music. He is also an avid reader.

Kenneth Sanford, MD

Medical School: Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, OR

Residency: Family Medicine at University of Florida, Gainesville, FL

Dr. Sanford lived in Ashland, OR with his wife and two children before going back to college and medical school in his 40s.

He is Board Certified with the American Board of Family Medicine.

He has been with Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC since 2007.

In his spare time, he enjoys traveling around the world with his wife and gardening. He spends a lot of time in the Bay Area, where his four grandchildren lives.

Nandita Suresh, MD

Medical School: Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, India

Residency: Internal Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital at U Penn, Philadelphia, PA

Dr. Suresh grew up in India and has prior training in surgery. She lived in United Kingdom before moving to United States to further her medical training.

She is Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Suresh has been with Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC since 2014.

She enjoys staying active in her spare time - tennis, fitness classes and spending time with her husband and two sons.

Mirela Titianu, MD

Medical School: The G.T. Popa University of Medicine & Pharmacy, Iasi, Romania

Residency: Internal Medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Rochester, MI

Dr. Titianu grew up in Romania and lived in Canada before relocating to the United States for further medical training.

She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine, with a focus on weight loss based on nutrition and medication and pre and post-operative bariatric surgery evaluation.

She has been with Southern Oregon Hospitalists, PC since 2015.

Dr. Titianu lives in Medford, OR and enjoys traveling, running, biking, rowing and spending time with her husband and two children.
